iOS 9 Beta Testers Can No Longer Post App Reviews

The change should be good news for developers.

Beta testing iOS 9 on your iPhone? Don't expect to leave any reviews for apps you download.

According to AppleInsider, beta testers can no longer submit app reviews with the latest build released this week. Those running the fourth iOS 9 beta can still access the iOS App Store just like usual, but anyone who tries to post a review will see an error pop-up that reads, "This feature isn't available. You can't write reviews while using a prerelease version of iOS."

The change should be good news for developers, as it prevents beta testers from posting "unduly critical assessments of apps that, for whatever reason, are incompatible with the upcoming system update," AppleInsider pointed out. The report notes that a "number of" apps have seen their star ratings drop after Apple released its iOS 9 public beta.

If you want to get in on the iOS 9 action, head over to Beta.Apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. iOS 9 runs on all devices that support iOS 8, so iPad 2 and iPhone 4s owners won't be left out. For more, check out our article: How to Get iOS 9.

Meanwhile, if you're not interested in the beta version, you'll have to wait for the fall to get your hands on iOS 9. This update is not as huge an overhaul as the leap from iOS 6 to iOS 7, but there are a few updates of note.

A major complaint among iPhone users is battery drain, particularly among those who upgrade older devices to new versions of iOS. In iOS 9, Apple says typical users can expect an additional hour of battery life, while a low-power mode will help extend battery life.
