iPhone 6s vs. iPhone 6: Metal housings compared in new leaked photo
Design-wise, the iPhone 6s is supposed to be a minor update to last year’s iPhone 6 model, in line with Apple’s way of doing things when it comes to iPhone launch cycles. At least that’s what the many purported iPhone 6s component leaks have claimed so far. One more unofficial image originating from China shows the metal cases of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus next to their iPhone 6 equivalents, suggesting that earlier reports have indeed been on point.

Published by French tech blog iPhonote, the image features the metal housings from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus wrapped in protective film. The Apple logo is clearly present on each of them, and they’re nearly identical. Then, the alleged iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus metal shells can be seen next to each one, and they seem to match similar images first posted by 9to5Mac in late June.
However, there are minor differences when it comes to screw placement, as Apple is likely to have made some updates to the internal components’ layout in the iPhone 6s – a series of leaks suggested Apple is looking to move from PCB design to Apple Watch-like SiP style mainboards, though this particular internal design change is yet to be confirmed.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6s family on September 9th, and start taking preorders for the handset on September 11th. The phone’s release date is currently said to be September 18th, although Apple has not yet confirmed any of these details.
