Enterprise uptake is critical to the success of Microsoft’s new operating platform, and if numbers are anything to go by then 1.5 million in just a month is encouraging.

Less than a month after rollout of Windows 10, Microsoft has shared that its new operating system had already been installed on 75 million devices. And, interestingly nearly 1.5 million of those systems are running Windows 10 Enterprise.

The company, however, didn’t disclose the scale and size of enterprise customers, but said “some of them are rolling out hundreds of machines in some very large pilots.”

Also, it’s not clear how many Indian organisations have deployed Windows 10 Enterprise edition. According to analysts, firms here will adopt ‘wait-and-watch’ strategy. “Many Indian organisations have recently moved from XP to Windows 7 and that they need compelling reasons to upgrade,” Vishal Tripathi, research director, Gartner India, said.

“Organisations do look for the stability factor. Windows 7 has been there for quite some time, and Microsoft is also providing support till 2020, so Windows 7 is more established system in the enterprise. Even if they are willing to make a move then they need compatibility test and so many other things, and I see that taking about 6 months to almost year. Before that, we don’t see Windows 10 uptake in Indian enterprises,” Tripathi added.

In-fact, Greyhound Research CEO Sanchit Gogia said that according to their research about 70 percent of 150 organisations surveyed across Asia Pacific were not going to explore Window 10 for the next 2-3 quarters.

Business customers have always been Microsoft’s biggest revenue generator. Enterprise uptake is critical to the success of Microsoft’s new operating platform, and if numbers are anything to go by then 1.5 million in just a month is encouraging.

Since the Windows 10 announcement last year, Microsoft’s enterprise pitch for its new operating system was quite strong. And, the company desperately hoped for Windows 10 to work its magic in order to recapture the lucrative business market, which outrightly rejected the Windows 8.

Last week, in a series of tweets from Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president, Windows and Devices Group, Microsoft Corp, shared some stats that show a month-end progress of Windows 10:
