HP’s Chromebook 14 laptop now comes with better battery life as well as a few other new features, but it still manages to drop its price by $50. It will now start at $250, and will be made available for purchase in the US from November 8 onwards, just in time to be ready for the Black Friday rush.
As its name suggests, the HP Chromebook 14 features a 14-inch display with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. While the previous models of the laptop used to offer eight hours of battery life, the refreshed variants will tender nine hours and 15 minutes’ worth of juice.
HP also sells a 1080p full HD version of this notebook, but the battery life on that is not expected to be as good as that of the other model. The Nvidia chip from the old lineup has been replaced with an Intel Celeron N2840 setup that’s unfortunately complemented by just 2GB worth of RAM, as revealed by Engadget.
For those unaware, Chromebooks are Google-commissioned laptops that run the company’s ChromeOS. This software only has its focus set on Internet connectivity, and doesn’t offer much else other than that. They are hence pretty cheap to buy.
Earlier this year, Google introduced us to Chromebooks as affordable as $149. Made by Haier and Hisense, these machines offer 11.6-inch displays, and are run by the combination of quad core Rockchip 3288 processors and 2GB RAM modules.

Coming back to the HP Chromebook 14, like we said, it will start being sold in the US from November 8 onwards at a starting price of just $250. The model with a full HD display will set buyers back by $300.
