Liveblog: Apple’s Q4 2015 earnings call happens at 5pm ET today

A relatively quiet quarter before a jam-packed Q1 of 2016.

Apple will be reporting its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2015 today at 5pm EDT (2pm PDT, 9pm GMT). As usual, we'll be on the call to liveblog the proceedings and offer charts and commentary.

Apple's fiscal Q4 runs from the beginning of July to the end of September and is normally pretty light on product announcements, which was true this year as well. The first couple weeks of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus availability will be included, but Q1 2016 will be the first full quarter of availability. Q1 will include major new products like the refreshed 4K and 5K iMacs, the iPad Pro, and the new Apple TV, too. The other new hardware introduced in Q4, the iPad Mini 4 and sixth-generation iPod Touch, are unlikely to move the needle much.

We can also expect analysts to ask for official Apple Watch sales numbers, something Apple has been quiet about up until now. We'd be surprised to hear CEO Tim Cook or CFO Luca Maestri give a specific sales number, but IDC estimates sales of roughly 3.6 million for the second quarter of 2015. Apple Watch numbers are rolled up into the "other products" category with everything from the Apple TV to the iPod to Beats headphones, making it difficult to judge how much money any one of those product categories is earning on its own.
