On Nov. 1, Walmart started selling Apple’s 16 GB Wi-Fi only iPad Mini 2 at a heavily discounted rate. The model can be purchased at US$199 (AU$279) instead of US$268 (AU$375).

Walmart's offer is one of the device's lowest prices to date. Although the tablet does not sport the latest Touch ID, the iPad Mini 2 was the first version of Apple’s iPad Mini series to be shipped with Retina display.

The iPad Mini 2 features a 7.9-inch Retina display with A7 processor and M7 motion co-processor on board. The multinational retail giant will offer the device in two colours, which are Space Gray and Silver. Boasting a battery life up to 10 hours, the iPad Mini 2 houses a 5 MP iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording, as reported by Mac Rumors.

In September 2015, Apple announced a totally revamped version of the iPad Mini 2 with an improved processor and better front-facing camera unit. The next generation of iPad Mini features a more powerful A8 processor and M8 motion co-processor. The iPad Mini 4 will be available in three colour variants: Gold, Silver and Space Gray. The overhauled iPad Mini 4 costs US$399 (AU$560).

On Oct. 28, T-Mobile added the iPad Mini 4 on monthly lease payments in the Jump On Demand plans along with iPad Air 2. Customers can now buy a 16 GB iPad Mini 4 for a total cost of US$396 (AU$555), with $0 down and 18 instalments of $22 per month. The top model with 128 GB internal storage is available at $199.99 (AU$280) down and 18 payments of $19 per month, costing a total $542 (AU$760), eWeek reports.

The Jump On Demand plans allow users to change their mobile devices and pick up new ones without shelling out an extra penny. Customers can change their devices thrice a year. The plan was introduced in 2013.
