Era ends for HP, but what can we expect next?

The split of the company formerly known as Hewlett-Packard Co. has been called the end of an era, but many are wondering what the future holds for the two new publicly traded companies.

The breakup of a company that began in a Palo Alto garage 76 years ago was announced a year ago and became official on Sunday. Angelo Zino, a senior industry analyst at financial information provider S&P Capital IQ told the Business Journal on Friday that this split is a good thing for both companies.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise — the company that sells corporate hardware, software and services — and HP Inc. — the business focused on selling printers and PCs — are now trading as two separate stocks.
