Computing giant Microsoft evacuated its headquarters in Germany this afternoon following a bomb threat.

Almost 2,000 workers were evacuated from the building after workers were first alerted to the threat at 12.06pm.

Local media reported that the company received a threatening call which prompted the evacuation.

However investigating officers believe it was a hoax.

Workers have now been let back into the building to continue their day.

The Microsoft headquarters building is in Munich, based in the Lohhof area about 19km north of the city in an area populated largely by industrial parks.

One local took to Twitter, sharing an image of hundreds of workers outside the building.
