Dunkin' Donuts Tests Mobile Ordering, Donut Delivery

Getting your hands on some yummy donuts, coffee, and sandwiches just got a little bit easier for some.

I confess; usually, by the time I remember that I can order a Starbucks drink via the company's mobile app and have it ready when I arrive, I'm already standing in line at the store.

If you remember, though, there's something to be said for the convenience of being able to skip the line. And now, not to be outdone by Starbucks,  Dunkin' Donuts is testing a new mobile ordering system of its own.

Starting this week, On-the-Go Ordering will be available in Portland, Maine while Dunkin' Delivery will be rolling out in Dallas, Texas.

In Maine, those enrolled in the DD Perks Rewards Program can download a new iOS app, place an order, and skip the line when they arrive. Orders can be placed up to 24 hours in advance, and customers can confirm via the app when they have arrived and are ready to pick up their order.

In Dallas, customers don't even have to leave their homes or offices.

Dunkin' is teaming with DoorDash for delivery of popular items like coffee, donuts, sandwiches, and more in 45 minutes or less between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Delivery is expected to expand to Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. in the coming weeks.

"The ability to skip the line to order your favorite coffee, donut or sandwich any time of day, or to have Dunkin' items delivered directly to you are two things that our guests have been requesting for some time," Scott Hudler, Dunkin' Donuts' Vice President of Global Consumer Engagement, said in a statement. "We are excited to launch these two new tests, and we will continue to evaluate a possible national rollout for both programs in the future."
