Remove Games From Your Steam Library Permanently

Ashamed of a few previous purchases on Valve's Steam? You can now remove them from your library entirely.

Remove Steam Games

Do you have a collection of games on Valve's Steam that you know you're never going to play ever again? Perhaps you weren't that interested when you purchased them, you played them for a few minutes and hated them, or you've already done everything you want to do in the game and don't foresee touching it ever again.

That's fine. It happens. But these unwanted games can clutter your Steam library. Unless you spend time sorting them into lists—perhaps a big "No" category—they're always going to be there. Until now.

According to PC Gamer, you can now, finally, remove unwanted games from your library for good.

Sure, it's a more drastic step than simply hiding the game, which you can do by right-clicking on any title in your Steam library, selecting "Set Categories," and picking the option to "Hide this game in my library." Perhaps you're just ashamed of your purchase, or want to keep your total game count low.

Regardless of the reason, removing games from your library is a fairly simple process. Click on the Help menu within Steam and select "Steam Support." You'll then select the "Games, Software, etc." option, search for the game you want to get rid of, select it, and then pick the "I want to permanently remove this game from my account" option.

The process is a bit cumbersome if you have a ton of games that you want to permanently delete from your Steam library, but we suspect that Valve is offering the option under the premise that a few people might just want to remove a few games for whatever reason. If you're looking to nuke 50 titles out of your library, you're going to be in for a pretty long afternoon.

Also, not every game is eligible for removal. If you bought a bundle of games that all unlock with a single CD key, you won't be able to just remove a few games from that bundle.
