PhotonStar extends IBM partnership

PhotonStar LED, the lighting technology manufacturer with a factory in Tredegar, has expanded on its partnership with IBM.

The company has completed a full retrofit of its Halcyon lighting system into the IBM Mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) lab at its Hursley laboratory in Hampshire.

It has demonstrated its wireless lighting system operating with IBM's cloud platform to clients and partners at IBM's Global Watson IoT headquarters in Munich, Germany.

PhotonStar has also joined IBM's PartnerWorld program, which provides business partners access to IBM technology and capabilities.

James McKenzie, chief executive of PhotonStar LED Group, said: "The power of the IBM Watson IoT team and cognitive computing will better equip our business to uncover opportunity and find new avenues of growth.

"We will also be better positioned to fulfil client requirements for innovative, end-to-end solutions for the commercial built environment as part of the IBM Partner ecosystem."

PhotonStar previously announced its partnership with IBM, and its cloud platform Bluemix, in January 2015.
