RadioShack is offering a great saving on the 32GB Apple TV 4, allowing customers to save $30 on the price of the device and score a free HDMI cable at the same time. This is the best current price we can find on the Apple TV online.

The fourth-generation set-top box

Calling the deal its “Pre-Christmas Doorbuster,” the 32GB Apple TV 4 can be ordered online, from RadioShack’s website. It’s a bundle deal offering a total $50 of savings: for $119.98, customers get the 32GB Apple TV itself, as well as an HDMI cable (worth $19.99), delivered to their door. This is indeed an online deal, and so customers don’t even have to leave their seats.

32GB or 64GB?

If you do take advantage of RadioShack’s deal, you’ll be settling for the 32GB Apple TV model (rather than the 64GB model). Will this be enough for you? Well, as we discussed back in October, this could be too small for users looking to download a lot of tvOS apps.

When you download an app or game, it can initially install just 200 MB of data. However, there are new systems in place that allow these programs to download additional resources, like new levels, in the background. Third-party Apple TV apps can also download an additional 2 GB of resources immediately. An app on the Apple TV can use a maximum of 2.2 GB at any given time, but that adds up when you have several such programs on your device.

From Apple, the larger 64GB Apple TV costs an extra $50, and this isn’t a huge price to pay for the additional storage. Though if you’re looking to take advantage of RadioShack’s deal, you’ll of course need to make do with the 32GB device.
