14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 Redstone preview build 11102 has been released by Microsoft earlier today, and as compared to its predecessor, it also brings a new feature for Edge browser fans that allows them to access browsing history with a simple right-click.
At the same time, there also seems to be a minor improvement when right-clicking a certain word on a loaded website, allowing you to perform a “Bing lookup” and search for more information on that select word or phrase. Previously, when selecting a word, you were allowed to ask Cortana to search for info, so this could be the alternative solution if the personal assistant is not enabled.
We’re not sure this is entirely new in this build, but it certainly comes in handy to those who spend most of the time browsing the web.
Performance improvements
Edge browser, which has reached version 28.11102.1000 in this new Windows 10 Redstone preview build, doesn’t benefit from any other new features aside from the aforementioned ones, so it’s very clear that Microsoft still needs more time to complete work on more significant additions.
Certainly, the feature that everyone expects is extension support, as Microsoft has already confirmed that it’s working to make all Google Chrome browser add-ons compatible with Edge either with small code changes or no modifications at all.
This new feature is expected to arrive in Windows 10 Redstone update, due in the summer of 2016, but for the moment, Microsoft is not yet ready to deliver a preview to insiders.
There’s already an extension manager integrated into the browser, but it’s not functional, so while the ground work has started on this new option, certain components still need further tweaking. Microsoft said that the next builds would bring more bug fixes and optimizations, so new features would only then arrive to users enrolled in the Windows Insider program.
