While the jury is still out on the necessity of wearing a redundant gadget on the wrist out of sheer addiction to technology, companies like HP can continue churning out stuff like its latest smartwatch for women. It has Swarovski crystals of course, and sports a traditional watch-face free of a touchscreen, similar to the rest in the ‘Engineered by HP’ series.
Folks with $250 to spare can order the new HP smartwatch right away and expect it to reach them by next week. The device has been designed by Isaac Mizrahi, who will be one of the judges on Project Runway All Stars Season 5, which is set to debut on February 11. Good timing, we must say. Maybe the gadget will make its appearance in one of the show’s challenges?
There’s nothing bold about Mizrahi’s creation; it’s clearly aiming for the masses (who can afford $250, that is). The standard elements one would find in a wearable made for women, is present on the HP smartwatch. It’s slim with ‘ delicate feminine’ straps and sprinkled with bling. The stainless steel faces are available in silver or rose gold. The metal straps can be swapped for leather ones.

There are ten straps to pick from and they’re $40 a pop. The OLED display on the smartwatch is very subtle. It lets users know about incoming notifications like text messages, emails, calls and so on. It supports Bluetooth technology and is water resistant (3ATM) to a certain degree. HP says that the gadget offers almost 5 days of battery life, and can be recharged via USB.
Apart from this latest design by Mizrahi, HP also has the Movado BOLD Motion, Titan Juxt and Michael Bastian’s Chronowing under its Engineered by HP series of smartwatches.
