Scott Forstall, an Apple executive who left the company after it fumbled the high-profile launch of its Google Maps competitor in 2012, is a co-producer of Eclipsed, the first Broadway play featuring an all-female cast and creative team and starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o. It's not Forstall's first Broadway show — he and his wife both co-produced the Broadway musical adaptation of graphic novel Fun Home last year. However, it proves that theater, as well as highlighting female creatives and actresses in the field, is not just a fleeting fascination for the Apple alum.

Fun Home became the first Broadway musical with an all-female writing staff to take home the Tony for Best Musical last year. Eclipsed is also joined by Waitress, an upcoming musical with Broadway's first all-female creative team. Forstall, who's not much of an avid Twitter user, announced his involvement with Eclipsed this afternoon in his first tweet in 255 days.

Eclipsed, written by playwright and actress Danai Gurira (who also happens to play the sword-wielding Michonne on AMC's The Walking Dead), is a dark tale of captive sex slaves grounded in the violent reality of the Liberian civil war. Nyong'o, who earned an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2013's Twelve Years a Slave for her portrayal of Patsey, plays one of handful of nameless wives trapped by a rebel commanding officer. Eclipsed opened at the Golden Theater this past Sunday and runs until June.
