Convertible laptops — also known as 2-in-1 laptops, hybrids, or in cases where the keyboard comes off, detachables — certainly have their upsides. They can fold into a tablet, which means you get a "tablet" and a laptop for the price of one; and they're ideal for frequent travelers who are looking to consolidate gadgets, or who want flexibility when they're crammed into a tight airplane seat.
