Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Soared To A New High After Q1 Report

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported a first quarter loss of $0.12 per share after the bell Thursday, compared to the loss of $0.09 per share a year ago. Analysts expected a loss of $0.13 per share.

Lisa Su, AMD CEO, said "We are optimistic about our growth prospects in the second half of the year across our businesses based on new product introductions and design wins."

Advanced Micro Devices gapped up sharply Friday and climbed during the first 45 minutes of trade. Shares advanced further in the final hour of trade and closed up by 1.37 at $3.99 on the highest volume of the year. The stock soared to a new high for the year.
