Apple's latest iOS is crashing people's new iPads

If you're using one of Apple's latest iPads, you might want to hold off on installing the latest update to iOS.

Version 9.3.2, released yesterday, is "bricking" some users' iPad Pro 9.7-inch models, with devices freezing and demanding that owners plug them in to iTunes.

Apple's Support account on Twitter urged users to restore their iPads through iTunes, but for many this has not resolved the issue, rendering them essentially useless.

Judging from users reporting the issue on Twitter, it appears confined to the 9.7-inch iPad Pro model, which was released in March and costs between £499 and £839.

It is unclear what, exactly, about the particular model makes it vulnerable. The update does not appear to have affected every 9.7-inch iPad Pro, with some users saying it was installed without a problem.

iOS 9.3.2 includes few noticeable updates, containing largely bug fixes and security updates, although one change is the ability to use Apple's night shift setting and battery saving mode at the same time.

Apple is likely to, at some point, release an update that fixes the problem.

The update was released on Monday evening amid a host of other tweaks to Apple's software. iTunes has restored the left-hand menu bar, and an update to OS X, 10.11.5, which includes a number of updates.

An Apple spokesperson said: "We're looking into a small number of reports that some iPad units are receiving an error when updating the software. Those unable to restore their device through iTunes should contact Apple support."
