One of the chief complaints about Amazon's Fire 10 tablet is that it feels very plasticky and thus a little cheap. Today the company is remedying that by adding a new version with a silver metal finish. Even better, the new aluminum option doesn't cost anything extra over the existing Fire 10, starting at $229.99 for 16GB of included storage. And on the storage front, Amazon is also today introducing a new 64GB Fire 10, which can hold more Prime videos, apps, games, and so on. That's priced slightly higher at $289.99 and is also available in the aluminum finish.

Everything else about the Fire 10 remains the same; it's got the same 10.1-inch "HD" (1280 x 800) display, which works out to 149 pixels per inch. No, this isn't any type of Retina or QHD display, but Amazon seems to think it's just fine for consuming content. (The Fire 10 averages a four-star review average, if you were wondering, so customers do find some faults with what's offered.) Inside is the same quad-core processor, stereo speakers, 5-megapixel camera, and you can add up to 128GB of storage with the microSD slot. Amazon also claims that in tests, the Fire 10 is two times as durable as Apple's iPad. The tablet promises "up to" 8 hours of battery life and both the new metal finish and larger storage configurations are available starting right now.
