Several new icons included in this latest Windows build

Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 14366 earlier this week, and Dona Sarkar, the new head of the Windows Insider program, has explained that the focus has switched on bug fixes and performance improvements, so new features are very unlikely in the next builds.

And yet, it turns out that more refinements here and there are actually implemented in build 14366, including not only Start menu improvements but also some new icons.

Bavo Luysterborg has spotted improved icons for the Enterprise Mode and encrypt mode, and although these are less likely to be noticed by regular users, they are living proof that Microsoft is working hard to refine the experience with Windows 10.

“Some new Enterprise Mode icons got added, including a greyed-out version of the briefcase and encrypt icons that were added in build 14328. The (full-colour) decrypt icon went from grey with a blue accent to full blue. The Ink Workspace icon got updated with a bigger version of the same design,” he says on the Windows 10 icons database page.

The Windows 10 icon effort

Microsoft has worked hard to improve Windows 10 icons, and the company went through more difficult moments when users heavily criticized it for new designs.

For example, in Windows 10 build 9926 the software giant rolled out a new Recycle Bin icon that was received with much criticism by Windows 10 users, so it had no other choice than to roll out new versions that would get in line with their expectations.

A similar thing happened recently, when Microsoft attempted to replace the traditional File Explorer icon with a monochrome version, but once again, this change was criticized by insiders who wanted a more colorful design for the file manager.

And now that we’re approaching the launch of the Anniversary Update, Microsoft is working to finalize development of this release, so such refinements here and there are supposed to improve the overall experience that Windows 10 users are going to get.
