If you’re on Windows 10 Mobile, you probably know that your options as far as browsers are concerned are pretty limited because only a few alternatives to Microsoft’s Edge are supported.

Opera Mini is one of them, and fortunately, the app gets updated every once in a while with new features that bring it in line with browsers available on rival platforms.

The latest update, for instance, brings ad blocking capabilities, a feature that wasn’t previously available on Windows 10 Mobile. As WindowsCentral spotted, you can easily enable ad blocker in Opera Mini from the Basic tab in settings, so it shouldn’t take more than just a few seconds.

With the ad blocker enabled, Opera should offer a much cleaner browsing experience on Windows 10 Mobile, as the app’s filters are already very effective on other platforms, including Windows 10 PCs.

Ad blocker in Microsoft Edge?

In the meantime, Microsoft keeps improving its own Edge browser too, and one of the ways to do that is by bringing extensions on both PCs and mobile devices.

The company previously said that extensions would first arrive on the PC, a thing that’s now expected to happen in July with the Anniversary Update, while development on mobile phones would start after everything runs fine on the desktop.

With a little luck, extension support in Windows 10 Mobile could arrive for Edge browser with the second wave of the Redstone update due in the spring 2017. Microsoft has already hinted that more cool stuff would come next year for Windows phones, so this would be the perfect moment to introduce extension support.

This way, users can also get an ad blocker right into the default browser of mobile phones, as several extension developers who promise to offer a cleaner browsing experience have already announced plans to launch their add-ons on Windows 10.
