Dropbox's Google Docs competitor is branching out.

The cloud storage company on Wednesday opened up its Paper beta so that anyone can sign up without the waitlist. First announced in October, Paper lets you create and collaborate on documents, as you can with Google Docs or Evernote Business. Until now, the service was available to a limited number of teams in a private beta, but now anyone can try it out.

On top of that, Dropbox launched new Paper apps for iOS and Android, so you can use the service when you're out and about.

Early Paper users have already created more than a million docs and given Dropbox "a ton of useful feedback" about how to improve the service.

"With that input, we've made improvements like enhanced tables and image galleries; desktop, Web, and mobile notifications; and powerful search to help you quickly find the docs you need," Dropbox wrote in a blog post. "And our new mobile apps let you get project updates, make edits, and respond to feedback — any time, anywhere."

The service lets colleagues work on the same doc together at the same time, adding words, images, and videos. Connect it to your Google Calendar and Paper will even create a custom notes doc for your next meeting and automatically share it with all attendees. You can also use the service to keep track of all your project to-dos — just start a checklist and assign tasks to others by adding an "@" tag with the person's name.

To try it out, head here to sign up for the beta. Then download the Paper app from the App Store or Google Play. And check out PCMag's full review of Dropbox (for Business).
