The company , which forged a strategic partnership with Apple in 2014, has developed more than 100 apps across 15 industries and delivered nearly 2,000 client engagements. Among the key sectors where IBM has witnessed demand are travel & transportation, banking, insurance, followed by retail and healthcare. “India team has played a huge role from the beginning of the Apple partnership. In fact, of the 100 apps we have developed, India team has played a major role in more than half of them,“ said Mah moud Naghshineh, ge neral manager, IBM Apple Partnership.

IBM has more than 500 Swift developers across its global network, of which the Bengaluru facility has the largest concentration, Naghshineh said, adding that they intend to double their global base this fiscal.

“The Bengaluru facility brings in several capabilities to the front end user experience, the way the actual app development is done and the integration of back-end systems for our clients,“ said G Venkatraghavan, VP, IBM Global Business Services.

IBM said around 22 interdisciplinary teams are working in the Bengaluru Garage, using end-to-end DevOps, IBM Design Thinking and agile delivery approaches to deliver iOS solutions to both global and Indian clients.

This initiative has also helped IBM, which primarily has large enterprises as customers, break into a new set of small and medium customers, Naghshineh said.

IBM also announced Mobile at Scale for iOS, a new offering targeting clients with digital projects comprising more than three iOS apps over a multi-year period.
