Microsoft might release this new CU next week

Microsoft hasn’t released any new builds this week, as it has worked to improve the internal flighting system, but next week could bring several exciting goodies for Windows 10 users.

While a new Windows 10 Redstone 2 build is very likely to ship in a few days, a tweet from Core Insider program reveals that Microsoft also has a release candidate for the next cumulative update, and this is build 14393.187.

And while there’s no information on when exactly it could launch, given the fact that Patch Tuesday takes place on September 13, it might actually be released for all Windows 10 Anniversary Update users next week.

Right now, however, it’s not yet clear if Microsoft wants to release it to insiders first or push it to everyone directly, but no matter the plan, a cumulative update for Windows 10 will certainly land next Tuesday as it happens every Patch Tuesday.

And just like all cumulative updates, it won’t bring any new features, but only improvements and bug fixes supposed to refine the overall performance of the operating system. Since it’s part of the 14393 branch, it is specifically aimed at users running Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

More likely, build 14393.187 will be released for both mobile devices and PCs, but once again, it remains to be seen if the company will roll it out for insiders first or ship it to retail users from the very beginning.
