Oracle is buying Palerra, a privately held cloud security startup that was co-founded by Oracle alums Rohit Gupta (its CEO) and Ganesh Kirti (CTO). Together, Oracle and Palerra plan to help accelerate cloud adoption securely by providing comprehensive identity and security cloud services.

Founded in 2013, Palerra provides Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) to automate the entire security lifecycle, from threat detection to remediation, in order to effectively combat cyber crime and keep enterprises secure.

Oracle aims to extend its Identity Cloud Service(IDaaS) with Palerra's CASB to deliver comprehensive protection for users, applications and APIs, data, and infrastructure to secure customer adoption of cloud.

Palerra's CEO, Rohit Gupta wrote in a blog post, "Along with the dramatic expansion of Cloud technologies in the enterprise, security for the Cloud has become a top business priority. In fact, the industry has given this movement a moniker – Cloud Access Security Broker or CASB. Modern enterprises expect to get better visibility, achieve rapid value, and deliver peace of mind to their end-users who access their cloud applications, while making it a seamless and secure user experience."
