Train Titans is an intriguing puzzle game. It lacks a certain touch of class, focusing more on the puzzles themselves than any surrounding hints of glamor but what's there is a solid and entertaining game.

The player takes the role of a train controller. Think of it as like a mixture of air control and setting up a toy train set. Throughout the 28 levels of the Puzzle mode, players must set up tracks to help the trains on screen get from one side to the exit. A simple tutorial goes some way to explaining how to do this. Players drag and drop pieces of track, setting the route up for the train. It's a little fiddly at first, mostly in terms of setting up curved pieces of track but it is more effective than tapping repeatedly.

Each level gets progressively more difficult. Increasing numbers of trains must be diverted and items like teleporters and splitters play a vital role to transport the vehicles. The levels don't take long to complete, once the player knows what to do, which means Train Titans is an ideal game to play in short bursts. Taking 10 minutes out to focus on a puzzle means satisfaction and progress is possible quickly.

After the completion of five levels, simulation mode unlocks which provides a twist on the concept with trains appearing at regular intervals and the need to develop a city transport system of sorts. I found the Puzzle mode much more enjoyable though, but that's not to say simulation mode isn't worth a look.

Train Titans is a fun idea for a game and quite well implemented, excluding the minor controls niggle. The only real flaw is the length of the game. The puzzle expert is going to feel in need of new puzzles at a later date so hopefully this will be a title with steady updates and support.
