In an ever evolving industry, keen to provide more narrative driven games and artistic experiences, sometimes it's nice to play a title that goes straight back to the base instincts behind why we game. Save Her is one such game. Who cares about a storyline when twitchy gaming is so prominent and so enjoyable? Save Her might not have the depth of other titles but it does make 30 minutes vanish like no time at all.

The concept is simple. A fish is making its way through the ocean and a plethora of sea monsters are out to stop it. The player's mission is to keep the fish alive by tapping the monsters and vanquishing them. That's all there is to it.

That's a small lie. There is more to Save Her but the basic idea never falters. Three different difficulty levels can be gradually unlocked through achieving better high scores, each providing a bigger challenge than the last. Some monsters require multiple taps to kill them, while others move extraordinarily fast and require a close eye kept on them at all times.

Combos can be built up according to how many monsters are tapped at once, with coins acquired after multiple consecutive taps. These coins can then be used to buy extra lives or a new playable character. Most interesting is that of the 30 missions that can be gradually completed for the sake of satisfaction.

It's all very simple but it is great, yet short-lived, fun. The urge to beat the previous high score keeps things feeling ever tempting although I do wish there was Game Center support so that I could compete with friends globally. Without it, there is less reason to return for future sessions, certainly once the player plateaus in their own ability. With the extra level of competition that Game Center or OpenFeint support would offer, Save Her would easily leap to a must have for the twitch gaming fan.
