In a big city, an app like Zaarly has the potential to bring back the community spirit that everyone craves to feel safe and happy in their surroundings. The app is a form of crowd sourcing help and experience really. It gives users a way of communicating with others in order to exchange goods and help, all through this free service.

We all have individual strengths. I can cook quite well but I'm terrible at manual labor like clearing out my garden shed. It's a big shed and it's full of useful equipment amongst the kind of spiders that would only usually be seen in Arachnophobia or a zoo. I hate spiders and I can't lift half the stuff in there anyway. Instead, I can place an ad on Zaarly, stating how much I'd be willing to pay for someone to clear my shed for me. Someone spots the advert and messages me privately to discuss details. Things like location are all on there thanks to the GPS functionality. Everything is conducted through the app with no need to exchange personal details, other than an address once I decide to go with that person. It's like Craigslist but more stylish.

Where does my ability to cook come into it? I can offer my services to others, either by directly pursuing people or by placing my own ad seeking someone to teach. More like eBay, it's also possible to sell products through the app as well as services.

It's all simple yet potentially very effective. To help users feel more secure, Zaarly gets them to sign up to profiles which can then be given feedback, much like on eBay and some brief background on them such as where they work and where they studied.

Like many apps like this, Zaarly does require plenty of users in the local area to be truly useful (the app is currently only available in the US) but for those in such an area, it's a great alternative source for help. It's easy to use and potentially very convenient.
