Bravo Force: Last Stand is the kind of game that lends itself ideally to short sessions on the daily commute, yet in no time it'll become one of those games that is brought out during any moment of free time. It's all thanks to that "one more go" mentality and its drip feeding of missions and levelling up.

The nearest game to Bravo Force: Last Stand is Time Crisis. Players are presented with set scenes in which villains leap out and must be shot at. It's all conducted via taps of the screen with ducking behind cover dictated by holding a finger to a button on the left hand side, and changing weapon types dealt with on the right hand side. Action is fast paced and consistently entertaining. Headshots require relatively precise shots, while there's always the option of just hammering an enemy with repeated taps.

The layout of the game is a little repetitive, using the same fixed scenes each time as the game goes through set waves. Such twitchy action doesn't make this feel so annoying, however, but I'd like to see new scenes in a future update. Perks can be equipped, using points, adding to the experience. These range from extra ammo and armor protection to a Last Stand ability and a gunship that tears through the enemies. Further firepower comes from grenades which are flicked with a finger for added satisfaction.

Bravo Force: Last Stand gets into players' heads through its use of levelling up according to how well the player does in each session. 175 missions are available, each requesting certain objectives to be completed such as to perform a certain number of headshots or to take out a tank with an RPG. It's simple yet does the trick in reinforcing that one more go mentality.

Those without a Facebook account are going to feel left out in the cold as Bravo Force: Last Stand heavily relies on Facebook (without connecting to such an account, anything of any worth remains locked), but I've yet to see any problems with hooking it up to the service. Instead, it comes with the benefit of being able to compete against friends for the best score.

Bravo Force: Last Stand is free to play, which is an ideal price point for a game that has the back up of in-app purchases to enhance game performance. Big fans will feel fine about chipping in for some extra perks at the right moment. It's not like it's enforced, merely encouraged. While gameplay is a little simplistic for a higher price, Bravo Force: Last Stand is a fun experience for nothing and bound to keep shooter fans happy for a little while.
