How To Manage Repeating Message Alerts

August 30, 2012
Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we're here to help. This is iOS Advice. If you’ve ever forgotten to dismiss a message while your device was locked, you’ve probably experienced repeating alerts. If you don’t acknowledge a message that you’ve received, iOS will alert you again two minutes later. These repeating alerts are setup by default, but they don't have to stay that way forever. You actually have the ability to disable repeating message alerts. Alternatively, you can setup notifications to repeat an alert up to 10 times. If you’d like to change your message alert settings, watch the video or follow the steps below: Step 1: Go into the Settings app on your device and tap on Notifications. Step 2: Next, scroll down to Messages and tap on it. Step 3: Swipe down to the bottom of the screen and tap on “Repeat Alert.” Step 4: You’ll now be able to change how many times an alert is repeated. Choosing “Never” will disable repeating alerts, while selecting an option such as “3 Times” will repeat the alert three times every two minutes. Now that you’ve learned how to manage your repeating message alerts, if there’s something else you’d like to see on iOS Advice, please let us know.
