Cisco Systems Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are among technology companies that will open new offices in East London as the U.K. government pledged 50 million pounds ($81 million) to revamp the startup hub known as Silicon Roundabout.

The funds will go to refurbishing the neighborhood to the East of London’s old city, to create the “largest indoor civic space” in Europe to host classrooms and working space, the Tech City Investment Organization, a branch of the government’s trade and investment department, said in a statement today.
