"Maybe I am old-fashioned. Am I the only one? With a new computer (mine or those I maintain), I always first reinstall the OS with an admin account, patch it, and set my desired security settings. Then I install all my applications from their install disks - good thing I have a list of all the install keys. Lastly, create the users I want and then copy their data -- excluding their home Library folder -- using whatever mode is convenient. Yes, it takes a long time, but I guarantee the install is as clean as it can possibly be. No incompatible applications or cached items (remember font cache problems?), and applications I no longer use don't get propagated forever." MacInTouch 3/1
